Day Six

November 17, 2006

Koji Ikeda is a former superintendent of Yokosuka City. He is a 90 year old A-Bomb (Hiroshima) survivor. He shared minute by minute, hour by hour, year by year memories of when the A-Bomb was dropped. He has had some medical conditions due to the radiation of an atomic bomb. The "Peace Education" conference surely changed my views and life!

Migiwa Ishitani told the story of her father's memories of the Atomic Bomb in Hiroshima. Her father passed away last year due to cancer. He had been speaking at the Peace Conference since it began ten years ago. She stated that her father always started with saying that he was sorry for the war. Ishitami San's father refused to fight in the war and so had to do VERY hard labor here in Japan. It was an amazing heartfelt story! She is the "seconed generation A-bomb" which means that if she develops any symptoms of radiation due to the A-bomb she will have free medical care.
